Wings Travel Management has been named as a finalist for Best Travel Management Company in the prestigious UK Business Travel Awards
The 2020 Business Travel Awards, run in conjunction with Buying Business Travel Magazine, recognise and celebrate the achievements of the travel industry’s leading businesses, teams and individuals, who have performed outstandingly in their chosen field over the last 12 months.
Each year categories are carefully chosen to reflect the range of areas and skills that lie at the heart of a successful travel firm or department. The independent panel of judges, made up primarily of business travel buyers, devote a considerable amount of their valuable time, to review and mark each entry in order to identify those worthy of winning one of these highly valued awards.
Wings’ submission this year emphasised the travel management company’s growth and business performance globally over the past year. As a result of significant multi-national new business, Wings’ global turnover has increased by 15% to reach £300M. The entry also highlighted Wings’ increased focus on offering bespoke technology solutions to clients globally, following the acquisition of Alchimea earlier this year, a specialist software developer of workflow integration, process automation, application design and management in the areas of global mobility, business travel and related support services. In addition, this year’s submission introduced TMA Content Module a new tool within Wings’ proprietary mid-office system (TMA – Travel Management Application) that interrogates multiple content sources including Sabre, Amadeus, airline private channels and websites – all via a single screen – to ensure Wings consultants worldwide give clients the best possible fares and richest travel content.
The judges said that they were “very impressed with the detail and creativity that went into the composition of the entry.” Tony Sofianos, CEO, Wings Travel Management said: “We are proud to have been named a finalist in the UK Business Travel Awards. This is an outstanding achievement as these awards are always highly competitive and the written submission is very demanding. It is a testament to our unique business model as a leading independent TMC owning and managing all our operations around the globe, the skill and expertise of our people and our innovative technology solutions. The fact that we own and manage all our operations has been a key driver in us winning significant new multi-national contracts as we can provide consistency of service globally, reliable on-demand data, follow-the-sun servicing solutions, and critical safety support in each market.”
The results of the judges’ deliberations will be announced at the Business Travel Awards ceremony and gala dinner at London’s Grosvenor House, a JW Marriott hotel, on 20 January 2020.
