Wings Travel Management has triumphed at the 2019 Business Travel Awards, winning the accolade for Best Travel Management Company (annual UK sales £50M to £200M).

The 2019 Business Travel Awards, run in conjunction with Buying Business Travel Magazine, recognise and celebrate the achievements of the travel industry’s leading businesses, teams and individuals, who have performed outstandingly in their chosen field over the last 12 months.

Each year categories are carefully chosen to reflect the range of areas and skills that lie at the heart of a successful travel firm or department. The independent panel of judges, made up primarily of business travel buyers, devote a considerable amount of their valuable time, to review and mark each entry in order to identify those worthy of winning one of these highly valued awards.

The judges commented: “We were impressed by Wings Travel Management’s bespoke service, the specialised skills to high risk areas and the excellent customer and employee retention rates, with some excellent case studies to back up an excellent entry.”

Tony Sofianos, CEO, Wings Travel Management said: “We are absolutely thrilled to win this award. This is a fantastic achievement for Wings and is a tribute to our people who are committed to managing complex travel and logistics for our clients, whilst delivering the best possible costs savings, without compromising on traveller safety.”

Wings’ submission for the Business Travel Awards emphasised the travel management company’s unique position in the marketplace as the only independent TMC to wholly own and manage all its operations globally. This means Wings operates off a single GDS technology platform, as well as its own front/mid-end reservations system TMA (Travel Management Application). The advantages include: follow-the-sun servicing solutions; consistency of service globally; the ability to access and amend existing bookings via any Wings office; and reliable on-demand data and critical safety support in each market.

The entry also highlighted Wings’ expertise in travel risk management and providing traveller safety support to clients of all sizes, particularly in high risk markets. Supporting documents also featured case studies demonstrating Wings’ specialist skills in handling complex travel and logistics to clients where travel is a critical part of their business model, such as the marine and energy sectors.
