Anderson joins Wings to boost global expansion

Doug Anderson has joined the board of Wings Travel Management as a non-executive director.

A former CEO of American Express Global Business Travel, Anderson brings 15 years of travel industry experience to his new role supporting the next phase of Wings’ expansion.

His previous roles include CEO of global travel management giant CWT and group CFO of SITA, the airline industry IT services provider.

Anderson said: “Wings is a classic example of an entrepreneurial success story. To get a new business off the ground is relatively easy. To keep it there for the next thirty years and to grow it to become a global player is an impressive achievement. The challenge now is how to take success to the next level. I’m excited to be supporting the management team to make that happen.”

Tony Sofianos, founder and CEO of Wings, said: “Doug understands better than anyone how this industry is powered by a combination of people and technological innovation. While Steve Jobs was building his first computers, the airline reservations industry was undergoing its own technology revolution that changed how we live, work and travel. Wings was born in that first era of innovation. I’m thrilled that Doug has agreed to come aboard to help us shape the next age of business travel.”

About: London-based Wings Travel Management specialises in corporate, energy, marine and security travel with wholly-owned regional hubs in the US and Latin America, EMEA and the APAC region.
