Wings Travel Management appoints General Manager Norway as business grows in Stavanger

Wings® Travel Management, specialist global travel provider to the oil and gas sector, is expanding in Norway after signing and re-signing contracts with 11 clients over the last three months with a total business travel spend worth £3.5m (NOK 38m).

Wings has also has appointed Bengt Georgsen as General Manager Norway to head up the company’s office in Stavanger. He brings over 20 years’ experience in the Norwegian travel industry, including various project, consultant and account management roles at ATPI, VIA Egencia and American Express. Georgsen reports to Tracey Beveridge, Wings Travel Management’s Head of Operations for UK & Norway.

Integration of the Norway business, which was acquired by Wings from Travelnet Stavanger in 2016, is now complete. The office has re-branded as Wings Travel Management and moved to new premises at Koppholen 6, N-4313 Sandnes, Norway. Wings’ Norway office also has a new phone number: +47 51 67 70 50.

In April, Wings will launch a new online booking tool, Amadeus’ Cytric solution, for use by clients in the Norwegian market. The tool enables business travellers and bookers to arrange flights, rail travel and hotels online 24/7 directly from the content in Amadeus global distribution system (GDS) or other direct travel supplier connections. Travellers can speed book their recurring flights and hotels in less than 30 seconds.

Tracey Beveridge, Head of Operations for UK & Norway, Wings Travel Management commented: “I am delighted to welcome Bengt Georgsen to the Wings family.  It is a very exciting time for Wings in Norway with a positive outlook for business travel growth in 2018 and beyond, a new General Manager, new office and the launch of our new online booking tool to the Norwegian market.”

Cytric provides an integrated booking solution with a travel expense management tool and gives clients’ travellers and business travel bookers complete control of their travel bookings and costs while ensuring compliance to their travel policy.

“We have also recently introduced our new goSecure™ travel risk management solution which works in conjunction with our VIMA™ mobile application,” she added.  “This enables us to alert our Norwegian clients’ travellers to any potential risks or safety issues while they are on the move, directly to their mobile phone, and provide immediate support during a crisis or any travel disruption. The VIMA application also provides flight status updates on delays, gate changes as well as full itinerary content.”
